Annual Giving Holiday Wish List
A Gift That Will Touch Someone's Life
During this holiday season, we often lose sight of the reason we celebrate. We gather together to rejoice for all the things in our lives that we are thankful for. This year, consider a gift that will mean so much to someone who really needs your help! You can make this season a little more special for one of our many clients and their families. Your generous donation, at any level , can truly touch someone's life and make a difference. Please look over this Wish List – then be as generous as you possibly can be!
Henderson Angel Tree - It has become a holiday tradition for the staff of Henderson Mental Health Center to ask their young clients for a wish list of items they would like to get for the holidays. Some ask for a special toy or book while others ask for basics like clothes and shoes. Whatever their requests, it is important to give them and their family the opportunity to celebrate in some small way. Help to make this a special day for them and their siblings, who we include in our Angel Tree program, to make their holiday more cheerful. Be an angel to a special child this year! $50 Suggested Donation
Many of Henderson Mental Health Center 's clients are adults. We want to make sure that they are taken care of during this season as well. Please help to make this time special with a gift to one of our many adult clients, too! $50 Suggested Donation
Holiday Family Meal Basket – Every year, Henderson Mental Health Center 's staff collects an assortment of food staples and coordinates its distribution to a large number of our clients and their families so they can enjoy a few special and nutritious meals during the holiday season. Baskets include such items as turkeys, vegetables, canned goods, bread and cereal, and a few other important staples to add to their pantry. You can help make a family happier and, more importantly, healthier with your gift this holiday season! $75 Suggested Donation
Personal Necessities – The clients we help through our Community Support Programs can benefit highly from gift certificates from various stores and vendors such as Wal-Mart, Target, and Publix. These certificates will assist individuals in obtaining clothing, personal hygiene supplies, and other items that our clients may not otherwise afford to purchase on their own. Small items that we take for granted can truly mean so much to them and their self-esteam. Your generosity can help to make someone's day much brighter! $100 Suggested Donation
Specialized Care and Treatment – In a course of their treatment by Henderson 's staff, approximately 800 youngsters require specialized medical or treatment services annually. Services consist of tests for vision, hearing, dental care, medications, intensive tutoring, educational assessments, even essentials such as school uniforms and food. Referral and funding sources will not pay for these types of services for indigent clients, or the payment is inadequate even if it is critical to the health of the child. Last year, Henderson Mental Health Center spent over $130,000 to purchase these types of essential services for its youngest clients. Your gift can help! $150 Suggested Donation
Recreational / Social Activities – Our clients are fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in treatment and support services provided through many of our programs; however, many do not have access to social activities. These activities which may be provided in the community or via our programs can only increase their integration in the community and enhance an individual's interpersonal skills. Your gift can make possible the purchase of tickets to social events, the arts, and other forums that can only contribute to decreasing isolation and maximizing an individual's quality of life. The staff and clients of Henderson Mental Health Center will thank you for helping them put a smile on their faces! $200 Suggested Donation
Food Program for the Homeless – An average of 50 homeless individuals are fed daily at Henderson's Drop-In Center located in Lauderhill as well as 35 formerly homeless men and women residing at the adjacent Safe Haven home. In addition, outreach workers distribute dozens of brown bag lunches every day to homeless persons in the community. Providing these meals costs Henderson Mental Health Center almost $500 a day, $15,000 a month or over $180,000 a year! Henderson receives minimal funding to provide this vital necessity. $250 Suggestion Donation
Household Essentials – Henderson Mental Health Center has many residential treatment facilities located throughout the county that allow residents to implement and strengthen their independent living skills, with 24-hour support and supervision from qualified Henderson staff members. These facilities provide calm and safe environments for individuals with a history of psychiatric illness that requires minimal supportive services. Residents learn new skills or strengthen existing ones so they may live as independently as possible, with an enhanced quality of life. The need to replace bedding, towels, and furnishing is a constant concern and can cost as much as $100,000 annually. Help provide these essential needs! $500 Suggested Donation
These are just a few of Henderson Mental Health Center 's many areas of need each year. Your contribution in any amount can help us to make sure that we continue to provide our clients with accessible, cost effective and quality behavioral healthcare. It is our goal to help each and every one of the thousands of clients to become productive members of our community. Your generosity can help us achieve that worthy goal.
