Holiday Smiles Come to Young Henderson Mental Health Center
Clients through the Broward Chapter of Florida Society of Enrolled Agents

Fort Lauderdale, FL

The Florida Society of Enrolled Agents holds an annual convention where one of the favorite events is “Christmas in June” to collect teddy bears for distribution to local charities who work with children.  These bears are donated by the members’ tax and accounting client’s, friends, and family throughout tax season.

Enrolled Agents are tax professionals regulated by the US Treasury Department.  EA’s (Enrolled Agents) prepare tax returns and represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service

This year will mark the third year of this project.  Members collected over 2,000 stuffed creatures of all shapes, colors and sizes.  They are making their way to loving homes throughout Florida to numerous children’s hospitals, rehab centers, trauma centers, hospice centers, police and fire departments.

The Broward Chapter of this professional group invited Shari Thomas from the Youth and Family Services division of Henderson Mental Health Center to tell their members about a few of the programs that are provided to children who suffered from mental illness.  Over thirty Enrolled Agent members were pleased to know that young Henderson clients would welcome the huggable stuffed animals with open arms.  Each year, at least one-third of the 20,000 clients that Henderson Mental Health Center treats are children.

Joanne Wood, President of the Broward Chapter of the Florida Society of Enrolled Agents, was pleased to arrange for their members to learn more about Henderson Mental Health Center – a nonprofit organization that has served the South Florida community since 1953.  Ms. Wood also encouraged Karen Drumheller, Director of Development for Henderson Mental Health Center, to come to their next convention to represent Henderson, which will take place at the Riverside Hotel in June of 2007.

For more information on how to make charitable contributions to Henderson Mental Health Center, please contact Karen Drumheller, Director of Development at 954-777-1624.  For general information, please visit their website at www.hendersonmhc.org.  For more information about the Broward Chapter of Enrolled Agents visit their website at www.fseabc.org.
