For
people with a serious mental illness, this disability
significantly affects their emotional state
and behavior to the degree that day-to-day functioning
can be impaired. Henderson’s Community
Support Services promote recovery, hope, choice
and success through community-based, effective
and efficient interventions that help individuals
maximize their strengths and lead rewarding
and productive lives.
Who
Benefits? People returning to
the community after inpatient treatment for
a mental illness; people with psychiatric disabilities
that have been incarcerated or are involved
with the legal system; and the homeless.
What
do we offer? Intensive,
community-based services. We assist individuals
with all aspects of living in the community
to help them gain stable housing, improved quality
of life, fewer crises and hospitalizations.
How
does it work?
Community Support staff are mobile and work
in close partnership with individuals to develop
service plans based on individual goals.
Case
Management Our case management
staff works with the individual and their family
to identify and prioritize needs. Together,
they develop a service plan that establishes
short and long-term goals and objectives for
achieving them.
P.A.T.H.
Project and F.A.C.T. Team Our P.A.T.H. Project (Positive Alternatives
to Hospitalization) and F.A.C.T. (Florida Assertive
Community Treatment) Team are recognized programs
for delivering “services without walls.”
We recognize the therapeutic role of the home
environment for providing community-based psychiatric
rehabilitation, treatment and intensive case
management services to persons who have not
responded well to traditional mental health
services. Services are provided by multi-disciplinary
teams and are available 24/7.
Forensic
Services Program works closely with persons who are incarcerated
in one of the local jails or who recently were
discharged from a state forensic facility. Henderson’s
professional staff ensures individuals receive
the mental health services they need and want,
advocate for due process in the criminal justice
system and support the individual during their
transition back into the community.
C.O.U.R.T.
Project
(Community Opportunities Utilizing Recovery
Techniques) is a specialized forensic Residential
Level II Treatment Program providing alternatives
to incarceration. The program serves individuals
who are suffering primarily from a mental illness
and involved with the Broward County Misdemeanor
Mental Health Court, the first of its kind in
the nation, or who are homeless and at risk
of incarceration.
Homeless
Services
Homeless Services ease the transition from homelessness
to home living. Our Homeless Outreach Program
has a proven track record of success in easing
a homeless person off the streets. By scouring
highway underpasses, parks, streets and isolated
encampments, team members begin the process
by building trust, offering food, clothes and
other necessities.
